Fabián Cerón was born in 1996 in San Jose, California and grew up near Wausau in Central Wisconsin.

Studying under the direction of Joseph Mougel, Lindsey Lochman, and Allen Morris, multi-disciplinary artist, Fabián Cerón completed a BFA in studio art with an emphasis in photography from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee.

From an early age, Cerón was surrounded by art, music, and cooking, learning family recipes from his abuela while his father played records on the stereo and his mother photographed tender moments. These experiences shaped his sensitivity to memory, texture, and rhythm in his creative work.

Over the past five years, Cerón has advanced in the gallery world, starting as an art preparator and becoming Director of Contemporary Art at Richard Norton Gallery in Chicago’s Merchandise Mart. This role deepened his knowledge of twentieth-century artists and sharpened his curatorial eye, further informing the way he approaches his own practice.

Cerón’s photography is influenced by the humanist photography of Tina Modotti, the attentive portraiture of Patrick Faigenbaum, and Laszlo Maholy-Nagy’s emphasis on photography as a medium for experimentation, dialogue, and social observation.

Outside of his studio, Cerón is active in Chicago’s DIY art scene, often seen biking across the city, digging through record bins, or visiting galleries. His interests extend to computer science, global studies, and interior design, reflecting a curiosity that continually informs his artistic vision.
